Overview

Build a permit to work template for high-risk activities such as hot works or working at height, then publish it and assign it to sites so workers can apply for permits in the Forsite App.

Steps

1. Open Templates
   • Go to Templates and open the Permits folder.
2. Create the template
   • Click [+ Create] and name the permit for the activity it controls, or start from a premade template.
3. Build the permit
   • Add the declarations, controls, questions, and any required document uploads an applicant must provide.
4. Save as draft while you work
   • Save as Draft keeps the permit hidden from workers until it is ready.
5. Publish
   • Click Publish to make the permit assignable. Note that permit templates carry a template fee plus a per-site charge once active; see Settings → Billing & Licenses.
6. Assign to sites
   • Assign the published permit to the sites where the activity occurs. Workers can then apply in the app, and your team actions requests in the Portal.

Troubleshooting

• Workers cannot apply for the permit → Check it is published and assigned to that site.
• I started from a premade template and only see Save as Draft → Save the draft, then open it from the Permits folder and publish from there.
• The permit opened in the wrong folder → The Templates page opens on Inductions by default. Switch to the Permits folder.

Does publishing a permit template cost anything?
Permit templates have a template fee plus a per-site charge for each site they are active on. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Can I have different permits for different sites?
Yes. Assign each permit template only to the sites where its activity applies.
