Getting started with the Forsite Advisor

How the Forsite Advisor's setup checklist and guided tours work, and how to launch, resume, or dismiss them.

Overview

The Forsite Advisor helps you configure Forsite. It has two parts: a Setup Progress checklist that tracks how completely your company is set up, and guided tours that walk you through each task step by step in the live Portal.

How Setup Progress works

  • Steps are detected automatically. When you create the thing a step asks for (a site, an induction template, a team member), the step completes on its own.
  • You cannot tick steps manually, so the checklist always reflects what actually exists in your company.
  • Steps for features your company does not use are hidden, not greyed out.

Using guided tours

  1. Open the Advisor
    • Click the Advisor widget. Your Setup Progress and available guides are listed there.
  2. Start a guide
    • Pick a step and click its guide. The tour highlights each control on the real page and moves with you as you complete it.
  3. Step through
    • Use Next to advance, or perform the action the step describes. Some guides chain into the next task, for example creating a permit template flows into assigning it to sites.
  4. Exit or resume any time
    • Close a tour whenever you like. Your progress is not lost, because completion comes from what you have built, not from finishing the tour.

Troubleshooting

  • A step will not complete → Steps complete when the item actually exists. Check the item was saved (and published, for templates), then refresh the page.
  • A tour closed partway through → Re-launch it from the Advisor. It runs on the live page, so you can also just finish the task manually.
  • A colleague sees a tour I do not → Tours are filtered by your role and your company's features. Ask your Company Administrator about your permissions.

FAQs

Can I turn the Advisor off?
Yes. You can dismiss tours and tips as they appear. The Setup Progress checklist stays available so you can come back to it.

Do completed steps ever untick?
If the underlying item is removed, the checklist reflects that, because progress is measured from your company's real state.

Do my team members see the same tours?
Not necessarily. Tours are matched to each user's role, so admins see setup guides while other members see a smaller set relevant to them.
